Golde's discomfort at the question is almost like, "what's love got to do with it?! After all these years? I guess I do..." Their marriage was arranged just like it would have been with their girls. Love didn't have anything to do with it. But they made a commitment to each other. Love came later. Maybe, given today's divorce rate for people who choose their own mates, there's something to be said for that.
