HTC Panache 4G (MyTouch 4G) Mobilicity Review

An in-depth review of the HTC Panache, AKA MyTouch4G (MT4G), recently released by Mobilicity in Canada and TMobile in the US. The phone runs (currently) Android 2.3.3 with HTC Sense 2.1 ontop. MSRP here in Canada is $500 with no-term on an unlimited plan. I go through the phone's specs, build quality, performance, internet/render test, live wallpaper test and briefly touch on SenseUI 2.1. ***I state that the display is plastic, and I apologize! It is indeed made of Gorilla Glass from Corning. Silly goose...*** Also one detail I forgot to mention! The HTC Panache comes with 4GB of internal memory, 1.2GB of which can be used for applications. Soooo go ahead and download stuff to your heart's content! FYI for those of you looking to unlock this phone and use it with another carrier, the frequencies of this device determine compatibility. Frequencies supported by the HTC Panache are: 850/900/1800/1900 + 1700/2100. Android 2.3 Compared to HTC SenseUI 2.1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v... I'm considering using a fruity loops ap with this phone and turning it into a remote control as well. Can it be used with liveviewer I believe its called to manage laptops and computer fairly well. Also if I found a good phone that was aws incompatible could I "rewire" the insides to work on aws network. Also does this phone have a dock and can it be used to hack another smartphone if software was available. Btw are larger batteries available for it..thanks

Hello. This phone uses a capacitive touchscreen for user input...the same screen used on dozens of high-end touchscreen smartphones. As such, it needs some sort of capacitive surface (e.g. your finger) to interact with. It will work with some gloves for example, but not other materials. There is NO film on the screen that needs to be depressed like some cheap/old products...those cheap/old ones are referred to as "resistive touch" displays. Cheers!
